We have
puppies!! Ellie went into labor in the evening of August 30th, and
delivered four puppies. She had a black
pup, then two golden pups, then one more black pup. She did great and soon had all puppies washed
and nursing.
The two
black puppies developed personalities within the first week. One of the black puppies, a boy we are
calling Winter, gained weight rapidly, and is now almost twice the size of the
other puppies. In the beginning, he had
a tendency to wander off into the middle of the area they are in, and then cry
hysterically because he didn’t know how to get back to Mom. We had already decided on seasons for names
for the pups, and we decided he was Winter because he was Whiny (I love
alliteration!). Thankfully, he has since
stopped that habit, and now is notable because of his size, and because he
likes to sleep on his back. He is so
round he often has trouble rolling back onto his front.
The other
black puppy is our runt. She had some
trouble latching at first, but has since figured out how to eat and now is
gaining weight. She would also cry a lot
in the beginning, mostly because Winter (who is twice her size), liked to
snuggle on top of her, and she ended up squished. We call her Autumn, and she is very sweet.
The golden
twins, Spring and Summer, are starting to develop personalities. In the beginning, they were notable for the
fact that they were always touching.
Even when they were each snuggling with a black pup, they would still be
somehow touching. Most of the time they
snuggled together. They are now starting
to show more personality, mostly by crying and running a lot in their
sleep. They are both a lovely blonde
color. Spring is a girl. Summer is a boy, and he appears to have
slightly lighter paws than Spring. They
have for the most part remained the same size.
I will
continue to post updates on the puppies as the weeks go by, especially as their
personalities develop more.
The puppies
will be available October 31st.
We will be selling the puppies for $600 a pup, and will take a deposit to hold them. If you are interested in the puppies or have any questions please feel free to email us at jancapups@yahoo.com or leave a comment.
